Equity in Education: Delivering on SDG4
Education is defined as the golden thread that runs through all 17 SDGs because access to quality education is not only a goal on itself, but a fundamental building block to creating a better, more sustainable world. According to UNESCO data, if all adults completed secondary education, 420 million people could be lifted from poverty, reducing the number of poor people by more than half globally. Yet, if current trends continue, 800 million young people will be leaving school in 2030, without even a basic education. As such, teachers hold the key to fuelling sustainable growth, building social cohesion and stability, and promoting tolerance and equality.
